Hello there! I'm Cassie Friedman,

and welcome to my story!

My career in bookkeeping began as a child really, as one of my “chores” in my early teen years was learning to create bills and take payments for the family business. I would eventually take this awareness of business with me to college to earn my Bachelor of Arts in Business Management.

While attending the University of South Florida, I was introduced to Human Resources: the center of the cross between business law, and serving people. I have always had a heart for public service and navigating the complicated fields of law, and so I fell in love with HR, and began a long journey to becoming a certified HR professional. 

After college I worked for a small Professional Employer Organization before returning to the family business as a full-time bookkeeper and administrator. In the early year of 2024 I earned my SHRM-CP: Society for Human Resource Management - Certified Professional certification.

With this certification plus my knowledge of bookkeeping, Horizon HR and Bookkeeping was created. We are small but mighty firm and we focus on helping new businesses get their books established, existing businesses stay organized, and future businesses prep and understand how their books should operate. We also help small business owners who want to stay compliant in the fields of employment and employee relationship through HR training and guidance.

Some of my activities outside of HHB include volunteering with the Sarasota-Manatee HR Association by serving on their Board of Directors as the Marketing Director, and volunteering where I can for various organizations in the community, including Keep Sarasota County Beautiful, All Faiths Food Bank, Boys and Girls Club, and more. I also enjoy designing board games (two designs are complete and available for purchase!), playing with my cats and my parents’ black lab Stella, but most importantly, spending time with my son, playing with Legos or running around the playground together.

Helping people is so important to me, and I understand that life gets busy, complicated, and sometimes moves faster than we can handle. Life is a delicate balancing act of work and play - let me help you find your balance. I’m here to help, are you ready to take the next step?
